Positive reviews:
Instagram - Adelita V. stated "Instagram helps me advertise [my business] for free." on SiteJabber.com. The review was posted on 11th June 2018 and the user gave Instagram an overall rating of 4/5.
I tend to agree with Adelita's review. Although it is possible to have paid advertisements displayed on Instagram, it is very easy to attract attention to your Instagram page by including hashtags that relate to the content on the image. This then allows people to see you and your business and become interested in the products/services that you offer.
Tumblr - blyle21 stated "Tumblr might be good for your kid." on commonsensemedia.org. The review was posted on 14th January 2013 and the user gave Tumblr an overall rating of 5/5.
I agree with most of the points that blyle21 mentioned in the review. Tumblr has a plethora of different tools and features that allow its users to block certain types of content that they may class as inappropriate.
Tumblr - The Business.com editorial staff stated "Tumblr is great for casual bloggers" on business.com. The review was posted on 18th December 2017 and there was no overall score given.
I completely agree with everything that is stated in the review and therefore have nothing more to add.
Negative reviews:
Instagram - Jeffery A. stated "if drug use and what appears to be pornography, are allowed. Instagram should not be allowed!" on SiteJabber.com. The review was posted on 2nd September 2018 and the user gave Instagram 1/5 stars.
I believe that Jeffery A. is either exaggerating or misinformed of the content which is on Instagram. It clearly states on Instagram's guidelines that they do not accept illegal behaviour or nudity. This means that any inappropriate posts are taken down when aware of it. Instagram does not promote any of the actions that Jeffery A. had stated.
Instagram - Ryan O. stated "I posted one thing and I only get one follower unlike Twitter I have 12" on SiteJabber.com. The review was posted on 15th September 2017 and the user gave Instagram an overall rating of 1/5.
I do not agree with Ryan's review. I do not believe that the quality of a social media platform should be judged based solely on the aspect of followers alone. There is also the experience of browsing other user's photos and being able to comment on them. You are also able to have conversations with different users.
Tumblr - trhood stated "Tumblr may say they prohibit obscene and pornographic material, but I witnessed multiple pages with terribly offensive material" on commonsensemedia.org. The review was posted on 26th January 2012 and the overall score was 2/5.
I believe that trhood may have misunderstood Tumblr's guidelines as they never stated that they prohibit explicit material. A lot of explicit content is allowed on Tumblr, although they can only be found when a user consciously decides to go looking for that type of content. Tumblr does not promote more explicit content to the average user. There are multiple settings that can also be adjusted to make sure that any inappropriate content does not appear.
